Compared with traditional square tool posts, it has the following advantages. Multiple tool holders (forming a manual tool library) for repeated tool changes. Traditional square tool posts only have 4 positions, making tool changes cumbersome. In today’s efficiency-focused manufacturing (for multi-process simultaneous operations), the quick-change tool post enables multi-process machining. Adjustable tool angles via a dial. Each tool holder can rotate by 9° (or multiples of 9°). Combined with the cross slide, it can machine workpieces at various angles. Traditional square tool posts have fixed positions (angles cannot be adjusted; adjustments rely on the cross slide alone), while the quick-change tool post uses gear engagement-each gear tooth turns the tool holder by 9°, simplifying operation and improving efficiency. Easy adjustment of tool mounting height. It uses adjusting screws and nuts to set the tool height, which is simple and shortens tool setup time. Traditional square tool posts have a fixed center (tool height can only be adjusted with non-standard shims; each setup requires many shims and cannot precisely align the center height). The quick-change tool post’s screw adjustment is fast, convenient, and accurate. Extremely fast tool changes (just a few seconds). Tool holders are pre-adjusted to match the tool post body’s center height before use. When switching processes, only the tool holder needs to be replaced-no re-alignment is needed. Tool changes take just a few seconds (simply place/remove the tool holder). High positioning & repositioning accuracy (within 0.01mm). This improves the surface quality and precision of machined parts. Many users worry that frequent tool changes might reduce accuracy, but the quick-change tool post’s gear-engaged structure ensures high repositioning accuracy. Stable machining after one-time installation. Its design breaks traditional concepts: the tool post body is fixed to the cross slide (integrated with the slide), and tools/holders use multi-tooth engagement. This boosts overall rigidity-offering higher strength and stability than square tool posts. Every industrial revolution drives product/process improvements. By comparison, the quick-change tool post clearly increases the efficiency of conventional lathes and reduces operator labor intensity-it is a true revolution. It is also used on simple CNC lathes, revitalizing old equipment and achieving the goal of maximum productivity at minimal cost in basic manufacturing.
