The unit mounts directly on your AXA quick change tool post. Traditional tool post grinders require you to remove your tool post, bolt the unit on and square it up. When you’re finished grinding you must then unbolt the grinder reinstall the tool post and square it up before you can return to whatever it is you were doing. This might be okay if you have a large number of parts to grind in a batch but not if you just need to grind one part. In this case chances are that you will comprise the quality of your work by using a file or abrasive cloth in order to avoid the hassle of mounting and remounting your Dumore or Thermac, (both good grinders for their intended use). No need to compromise anything with this QC grinder. Just pop it on like any other tool and pop it off when your finished. No further adjustment is necessary. In my opinion this is by far the best reason i can think of to own one of my QC grinders. All of this this makes the tool very handy, it has many uses. I personally use mine to repoint centers, making and sharpening engraving tools, truing up 3 jaw drill and lathe chucks, restoring 5C collects and tool holders, grinding the high precision spindle adapters that I make, fitting bushings and bearings to shafts and many more things.
