I had bought that aluminum toolpost (you all know the one if you’re looking at this product) and it worked okay, but I noticed a lot of flex when cutting even… I figured it was my saddle gibs not being tight enough, but after tuning up the lathe, I realized it could only really be the toolpost. I even tried tightening all of the gibs. Since I got this toolpost that you’re now on the product page of, I’ve tried heavy cuts in aluminum with a damn near mirror finish. I can even take on steel reliably now! I’m mostly limited by the stall torque of my lathe, not the rigidity, at this point. I’m very impressed.
